St Paisios of the Holy Mountain in his own words
St Paisios takes us back to his life in Konitsa and the atmosphere in his home. He tells us in his own words about events during the German Occupation and during his military service in the Nafpaktos region, and moves us by his heroism and self-sacrifice. He takes us round the places where he lived as a monk and hermit. St Paisios of the Holy Mountain teaches us through the experiences of his ascetic and hesychastic life, which was full of sacrifices, struggles, and material deprivation, but also of soaring spiritual ascents. He narrates various anecdotes from his contact with people. And finally, by the way St Paisios faced his illness, he strengthens our faith and teaches us to be patient and to overcome death.
This is an unusual and revealing ‘autobiography’, a ‘spiritual blood transfusion’ from the heart of St Paisios of the Holy Mountain, burning with love for God, written by the inspired and authentic pen of Metropolitan Hierotheos.
