Ecclesiological Issues
Proceedings of the Second Theological Conference
This volume contains the Proceedings of the Second Theological Conference, which took place on 1 October 2016 in the Holy Metropolis of Nafpaktos and St Vlassios. The aim of the Conference was to inform the Christians of the Holy Metropolis in a responsible way about the right response to critical theological and ecclesiastical issues that were under discussion at that time.
In a responsible manner, and in the context of theological debate, Christians were updated on the following crucial theological issues: what the Church is; the presuppositions of Orthodox theology and ecclesiastical life that are set out in the Philokalia, which is the basis of Orthodox patristic teaching; the difference between hesychasm, which is the interpretative key of the whole patristic tradition, and Western scholastic theology; what the World Council of Churches is, and how it is interpreted from an Orthodox point of view.
