Quality of Life
Quality of Life is a book that shows the new life to which the Church is guiding us. The theme which all the pieces have in common is the quality of life, which does not just mean economic well-being or improvement to our earthly existence, but overcoming death, and inner freedom.
The author observes contemporary society and briefly records his findings. People today are tired of words and slogans, and possessed by unremitting restlessness, anxiety and insecurity. Everyone worships his own abilities and gifts, putting himself at the centre of society. The utilitarian approach prevails, along with aggression, competitiveness, hostility, confrontation, violence and ruthless self-enrichment.
Through life in Christ our existence gains worth. Within the Church man acquires a true and full relationship with God, with other people and with creation. Orthodoxy, with its therapeutic method, offers vital solutions to the various problems and existential questions which occupy people today. Within the Orthodox Tradition we have a healthy and balanced spirituality, which contributes meaning, quality and fullness to life.
