We live in an era notable for its syncretism and confusion between Orthodoxy and other religions. Ecclesiastical problems multiply and the Church becomes secularised. Christianity has been reduced to a religion. Nowadays there are signs in both East and West that confirm the prevalence of ‘magical’ religious experience and expression even within Christianity. The first part of this book contains mainly ‘Religious and Ecclesiastical’ pieces, whereas the second part, called ‘Cultural and Social’, includes articles that present the contemporary relevance and mission of Christianity and the Church.
Since 1982 the nuns of the Birth of the Theotokos Monastery have been publishing the books of Metropolitan Hierotheos, the founder and spiritual father of the community, and distributing them throughout the world.
